Hugh Brady

Hugh Brady is a Board member and past president of the Barrington chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI). With NAMI, he helped to create the Housing Task Force, a group that works to build community-based permanent supportive housing for folks with mental illness. Four sites have been built in the northwest suburbs and a fifth site  has been funded and is awaiting approval by the Village.  In addition, Brady serves on the Board of the Alliance to End Homelessness in Suburban Cook County. He  also serves on the Board of the Illinois Association of Problem Solving Courts, which seeks to educate participants about the hows and whys of mental health courts and other specialty courts. 

Brady  retired in June of 2007 after 38 years of teaching.  He spent most of his career at Cooper Middle School in Buffalo Grove, teaching mostly history and mostly eighth grade.  His  BA and MA are both in history and both are from NIU.
