Defend Democracy Drop-Ins

Defend Democracy Drop-Ins are energizing meet-ups where League members and their friends can get together to take action on issues they care about. New topics will be provided monthly. Office Hours

Kathy Cortez, LWVIL Vice President of Issues & Advocacy, holds virtual open office hours on the second Tuesday of each month from 11:00 am to noon. Office hours are designed to answer any questions League members may have, provide guidance, discuss positions, and talk about the process for studies and Program updates. Email issues@lwvil.org for access.

Diversify Your League

Join the Leagues of Women Voters of Illinois and Wisconsin for an informative and inspiring evening with LWVUS' Demetrius Fisher on Thursday, October 10, 7:00 pm (Virtual). Learn strategies to diversify your League, from leadership to the general membership, through programming, recruitment, and outreach. Hear success stories from other Leagues and come away with action steps for greater equity, inclusion, and access in your community. Register.

ENERGIZE Leadership Training

This annual leadership training was last held on August 29, 2024. We covered officer, board member, and committee expectations and responsibilities. Topics included voter services, advocacy, membership handbooks, yearly calendars, ChapterSpot, roster management, and new structures on the horizon. Membership Recruitment and Management Training

Every League member can help grow League membership! Local League members and their connections are some of our best recruitment tools. This training session, held September 7, 2023, teaches us about how to successfully attract and retain members to keep our organization thriving. Partnerships Training

Learn how to identify, develop and deepen partnerships with other pro-democracy and voting rights groups, and groups that intersect with the League’s priorities, including strategies for building and working in an effective coalition. Candidate Forum Training

The League is considered the expert in presenting nonpartisan, informative candidate forums. Learn the steps to planning a successful candidate forum (includes how-to tips for holding a virtual forum on Zoom). This training was last held on January 13, 2024. Mock Election Training

Moderator Training

Observer Training

The League’s trained Observer Corps play a key role in community education and engagement. Trained Observers help their communities stay informed about decisions that impact them locally, while encouraging government transparency and accountability.
