We’re headed to Springfield!

League of Women Voters members across the state are invited to join us for Lobby Day at the Illinois State Capitol during the 2025 spring legislative session.

You can make a difference! During Lobby Day, you’ll meet with your legislators and advocate for the issues you care about. Never lobbied in Springfield before? No worries, we will provide assistance.

Which bills will we be advocating for?

Bills are still making their way through legislative committees, and we will have more specifics as the date approaches. We are targeting bills that address issues in housing, education, environment, criminal justice, constitutional rights, and others!

PLAN NOW to meet with your lawmakers in Springfield

Once you have registered to attend, ask your local League leadership about plans they have to coordinate a visit or ridesharing (If not, don’t let that deter you. There will be dozens of people from across the state there.).

To avoid lots of overlap, local Leagues have been assigned legislators. Lobby Corps Volunteers* have also been assigned legislators. Check who is assigned to your legislators and be sure to coordinate meeting scheduling with those local Leagues and Lobby Corps Volunteers. If no meeting has already been planned, call your lawmaker’s Springfield office to schedule a time to meet on May 7.

*This year, LWV Illinois is launching a formal Lobby Corps. The Corps Volunteers will be working year-round with assigned legislators to advance key League priorities as bills in upcoming sessions. Each Corps Volunteer has been assigned 3–5 legislators, usually someone who is in their own local district or someone who is in a legislative leadership position. They will be reaching out to local Leagues to coordinate visits, but feel welcome to contact volunteers directly.
