Douglas Ower is a lifelong Zion resident who lived and worked near the Zion Nuclear Power Station during its construction, operation, and abrupt closure in 1998. He served on the Zion Community Advisory Panel (ZCAP) from 2010-2020 during the decommissioning of the Zion Nuclear Plant. He is a member of the Nuclear Energy Information Service (NEIS) in Chicago and the Chair of the Sierra Club Woods and Wetlands Group in NE Illinois. He is also a member of the Sierra Club Illinois Chapter lobby team which works to pass clean energy and environmental legislation in Illinois such as the Climate and Equitable Jobs Act (CEJA) and Future Energy Jobs Act (FEJA).
