Local Elections Coming in 2025

12/4/24

The Illinois State Board of Elections certified the results of the November 5 General Election on December 2—and now it's on to local elections!

Some Illinois municipalities and townships will hold elections next year: Illinois’ 2025 Consolidated Election will be held on April 1 – that’s applicable statewide.

Some Illinois municipalities and townships are required to hold primary elections in advance of the April 1 election. This occurs when four or more candidates are running for the same office. The Consolidated Primary Election will be held on February 25Check to see if a Primary Election is being held in your County.

Early voting for municipalities with primary elections began January 16. Early voting for everyone else gets complicated.

If your county has any primary elections being held within the county, the rule per the Illinois State Board of Elections (ISBE) is that the entire county follows the calendar as if the individual municipalities all had primaries. Early voting, then, begins March 7.

If the county has no primaries within its jurisdiction, early voting begins February 20.
