League Action in November & December
1/2/25
Representing 3700 members across the state, the League teams up with other organizations so that all of our voices are amplified. Here’s what we spoke out on in November and December:
Created an Action Alert for members to support protecting the Mahomet Aquifer under SB3968 and HB5874 during the November Veto Session.
Defend Democracy Drop-in focused on “The Power of the Written Voice” to encourage advocacy actions by members.
President Becky Simon sent our First Annual “LWVIL President’s Letter to the Governor” and leaders of the General Assembly to provide advance notice of LWVIL’s legislative priorities for the 2025 legislative cycle.
Signed onto a coalition letter supporting the FAIR Act, which advocates for passing a bill to adequately and equitably fund public defenders as required in the constitution.
Supported the nationwide wide effort to contact the White House and demand that President Biden instruct the US Archivist to certify and publish the ERA in the Constitution.
Representing League members across the country, LWVUS also signs onto letters and legal cases supporting League positions:

LWV Greeley-Weld County v. Weld County Board of Commissioners: On Dec. 11 at 9am MT, the Colorado Supreme Court will hear oral arguments on whether home rule counties in Colorado are required to follow state law on ensuring fair county commissioner districts.
