Michael Chavarria

Having dedicated the last 8 years to fighting for fair housing around the state of Illinois, Michael Chavarria worked at several Illinois-based fair housing organizations before joining HOPE Fair Housing Center as its current Executive Director in January of 2022.

Michael possesses expertise in fair housing enforcement, investigative methods, and policy, and has a background in coalition-building to advance fair housing initiatives at the local, state, and federal level. 

HOPE Fair Housing, in conjunction with Illinois Coalition for Fair Housing, was instrumental in successfully advocating for passage of Sources of Income protections in Illinois, which was legislation supported by the LWV of Illinois.
