League Action in Summer 2024
9/1/24
Representing 3700 members across the state, the League teams up with other organizations so that all of our voices are amplified. Here’s what we spoke out on in June, July, and August:
LWVIL President Becky Simon published a letter to the editor in the Daily Herald in opposition to the extension of municipal contracts with utilities that utilize coal power.
In conjunction with LWVUMRR and LWVUS, LWVIL signed onto a letter supporting legislation for conservation-friendly farming practices.
LWVIL signed a letter to Governor Pritzker requesting his support for legislation aimed at fostering climate resiliency and promoting water quality, floodwater storage and habitat through wetlands protection.
LWVIL signed on to a letter to Governor Pritzker encouraging him to bring “Direct File” to IL. Direct File is a simple, free, and public tax filing tool piloted in states across the country.
