Hillary Caron

Hillary Caron is a Senior Policy Advisor at the Greater Chicago Food Depository, where she advances federal, state, and local policy to address hunger and its roots causes and works to strengthen the social safety net. Prior to joining the Food Depository, Caron was a public servant in Washington, DC, where she served as Legislative Director and health policy staffer to multiple Members of Congress. Caron served in the Obama Administration at USDA as a liaison to Congress and later as a Senior Advisor and speechwriter to Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack. As a nutrition policy staffer for the Senate Agriculture Committee, she helped develop the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010 to improve child nutrition programs, including school lunch and breakfast programs and WIC. Caron is originally from Deerfield, Illinois and holds a JD from New York University and a BA in Public Policy and African & African American Studies from Duke University.
