THE League Of Women Voters of Illinois
The League of Women Voters of Illinois is a 501(c)(4) organization. Your generous donation to LWVIL can be used for advocacy work and lobbying on important issues such as protecting vote by mail ballots, fighting federal militarization of Illinois cities, and protecting due process for everyone. LWVIL donations also contribute to League operating expenses and League growth initiatives. Donations to the League of Women Voters of Illinois are not tax-deductible.
The LWVIL Education Fund
The League of Women Voters of Illinois Education Fund (LWVILEF) is a 501(c)(3) organization. Donations to the Education Fund support voter education services and voter service activities. Donations to this fund are tax-deductible, perfect for those who itemize their deductions on their federal income taxes, want to make a qualified charitable distribution (QCD) from their IRA, or wish to donate appreciated securities.

Make a gift to the LWVIL Education Fund (EIN: 36-3037231) directly from your DAF—an easy, tax-smart way to support our mission.
📈 APPRECIATED STOCK OR MUTUAL FUNDS
Donate long-term appreciated securities to the LWVIL Education Fund to avoid capital gains tax and receive a deduction for the current fair market value of the asset while avoiding capital gains tax. This allows you to give more money to the League and less to taxes. Contact your brokerage/financial services company for more information.
💰 IRA QUALIFIED CHARITABLE DISTRIBUTIONS (QCDs)
If you’re 70½ or older, you can transfer up to $108,000 per individual per year as a Qualified Charitable Contribution (QCD) from your IRA directly to the LWVIL Education Fund.
If you are age 73 or older, you must take a Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) from your IRA each year. A Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) can satisfy all or part of that RMD, and because a QCD is excluded from your adjusted gross income, it can help lower your overall tax burden. This lower income may also reduce or avoid IRMAA surcharges for Medicare and reduce the portion of your Social Security benefits that becomes taxable.
🌿 LEAVE A PLANNED GIFT (ESTATE GIFTS)
Include LWVIL in your will, trust, or estate plan to ensure our work continues for generations.
Sample bequest language:
“I give, devise, and bequeath to the League of Women Voters of Illinois, 332 South Michigan Avenue, Suite 634, Chicago, Illinois 60604-4422, (insert amount or gift being given here), to be used in support of the mission of the League of Women Voters of Illinois.”
You may also name LWVIL as a beneficiary of your retirement account, investment account, or life insurance policy—simply update your beneficiary designation.
